Tutor Hunt
Tutor Hunt provides a completely free service to both tutors and students to locate each other. It is used by thousands of parents/students and could be a useful resource.

Careers Wales West
Careers Wales is an all-Wales service that gives people of all ages free careers information, advice and guidance.
Genesis Cymru Wales 2
Genesis Cymru Wales 2 aims to engage with individuals that are furthest away from the labour market and who are socially and economically disadvantaged. The project will support them to take the first steps towards training and ultimate employment. Support may be in the form of advice and guidance, mentoring, confidence building and financial support can be offered for childcare, training, equipment or transport costs.

Jobcentre Plus
Jobcentre Plus is a government agency supporting people of working age from welfare into work, and helping employers to fill their vacancies.
Learndirect is an e-teaching organisation. Learndirect operates a network of more than 750 online learning centres in England and Wales. These provide flexible learning for adults wanting to improve existing skills or to learn new ones.

Helping you back into work.
Have you recently been made redundant? An initiative by the Welsh Assembly Government has been set up to help people who have been made redundant to find a new job as soon as possible. This is called ReAct.
Support under the ReAct scheme is available for individuals who:
- Have become unemployed in the last six months as a result of redundancy, are currently unemployed, and who have not been in continuous employment for 6 weeks or more since being made redundant; or
- Are currently under notice of redundancy, and
- Have not undertaken any publicly funded training since being made redundant, including the work-based learning suite programs.

There is a variety of support systems available for children with SEN in both the primary and secondary sectors.
School Uniform
The governing body of each school decides on the uniform policy or dress code, and it is the Head-teacher's responsibility to make sure pupils keep to the rules. If you have any complaints about the uniform policy or dress code, talk to the school governing body.
Help with the costs for school uniforms
The Welsh Assembly Government has introduced a scheme offering financial assistance to certain parents on low income towards the purchase of school uniform for their children when they move from primary to secondary school. Carmarthenshire Local Authority (LA) administers the Scheme on its behalf.
The grant is available for pupils entering Year 7 of a secondary school and for pupils attending special schools, special needs resource bases and pupil referral units who are aged 11 at the start of the school year.

Dyslexia
What is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a difficulty with the acquisition of reading, writing and spelling which may be caused by a combination of phonological, visual and auditory processing deficits. Word retrieval and speed of processing difficulties may also be present. The manifestation of dyslexia in any individual will depend upon not only individual cognitive differences, but also the language used. Every dyslexic is different, and should be treated as an individual.
Welsh Dyslexia Project
The aim is to provide advice and support to dyslexic individuals and those who are having difficulties, across Wales, either through the medium of Welsh or English.

Homework Support
The Welsh Language Board provide a 'Homework in Welsh Support Line'. This is available for pupils and parents to call. It is available from Sunday to Friday from 3:00pm until 9:00pm. School Meals
All food provided by local authorities must meet national nutritional standards. These ensure that children are provided with a healthy, balanced diet. The new standards, introduced in September 2006, require the following:
- High-quality meat, poultry or oily fish regularly available
- At least two portions of fruit and vegetables with every meal
- Bread, other cereals and potatoes regularly available
Additionally, there are controls on the following foods:
- Deep-fried food limited to no more than two portions per week
- Fizzy drinks, crisps, chocolate and other confectioneries removed from school meals and vending machines.
Further standards for food other than lunch were introduced in September 2007.
Free School Meals
Free school meals are only available to children whose parents/guardian receives one of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Job Seekers Allowance (Income Based)
- Support under part V1 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit, but DO NOT receive any Working Tax Credit, and their annual income (as assessed by the Inland Revenue) does not exceed £16,040 (from 6th April 2009)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
