Funding for 3 year olds


Do you have a child over the age of three years that is not attending school on a part-time basis? If the answer is YES, your child could be funded to attend a playgroup or Day Nursery in Carmarthenshire.

Funding has been received from the Welsh Assembly Government to ensure that all children in Wales will be offered a free part time educational place, in an approved setting, the term after their third birthday. If a child has not been offered a part time place in school then it may be possible to offer a free place in another setting i.e playgroup or day nursery for a minimum of ten hours per week. In order to ensure that the setting is providing appropriate educational experiences, all non-maintained settings will need to have an ESTYN Inspection. In Carmarthenshire we have over 40 approved settings some of which have already been inspected, whilst others are awaiting to receive their inspection.
