Help with Childcare costs

Child Tax Credit [CTC] helps most households with at least 1 dependent child, and an income of up to 58,000 a year. It is paid at a higher rate for households with at least one baby under 12 months. It is not paid for childcare provided by nannies and au pairs. Also, if you use informal childcare (e.g. grandparent/aunt), the relation must register as a childminder to enable you to qualify for CTC. Working Tax Credit [WTC] supports working households on low incomes by topping up earnings. You don't have to have children to be eligible. If you have childcare costs and/or have a disability, you could be entitled to more money.

The Carmarthenshire FIS has a range of up-to-date leaflets and help sheets which give further information about the Tax Credits. The Tax Credits helpline on 0845 300 3900 can advise you on whether or not you are eligible for WTC and /or CTC, and can help you complete the application form if you are unsure. You can also check your eligibility and apply online by visiting the Inland Revenue website on:
