Family Support Services
Family Services within Carmarthenshire cover a range of support services, networks and facilities for parents and carers and young people to enhance their capacity to cope with the challenges of family life. These services also help children and young people reach their full potential. Family Support Services can be provided by the statutory, voluntary and private sectors.

Families Together...supporting Carmarthenshire families
is a new project which aims to assist families experiencing
hardship due to in-work poverty or being trapped in a low pay/no pay cycle. All of
which puts a strain on family relations, and creates a feeling that circumstances are
The Carers Information Service provides free and confidential information, advice and support to anyone looking after a relative, friend or neighbour who could not manage without their support due to illness, frailty, disability, mental health concern or addiction. We produce and distribute information for carers including factsheets and a quarterly newsletter and organise regular events throughout the year. Our team of carers outreach workers can work with carers 1:1 offering support to help them better manage the impact of their caring role. The service is available throughout Carmarthenshire and is hosted by Crossroads Sir Gar, a network member of Carers Trust.
As well as our services for adult carers we have a Young Adult Carers Development Worker can provide 1:1 support and signposting to young people aged 14-25 years who have caring responsibilities.

Barnardo's Cymru provide training to raise awareness about the impact of parental
offending and imprisonment, helping professionals develop skills
and knowledge about how to support children and families.
