The Flying Start Early Years Advisory Team works with each childcare setting in order to develop suitable curriculum plans and activities which stimulate two year olds’ development. The emphasis is on setting standards which produce ‘quality’ childcare provision across all Flying Start contracted childcare settings.

Please telephone 01554 742447 to see if you are eligible for any of these free services and to check for availability of vacant childcare places.

NB: Access to a Flying Start Childcare funded place is via a Childcare Allocation Referral form, completed by your Flying Start Health Visitor, normally at age 18 months, who will be visiting your child from birth.

All childcare venues are required to be registered as a minimum to provide sessional care and meet National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare for Children up to Age 12 years (Revised April 2016), in line with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales (CSSIW) Regulations and the Children and Families (Wales) Measure 2010

A Flying Start Childcare session typically starts around 9.00/9.15 am until 11.30/11.45 a.m. or an afternoon session could be 12.30/45 p.m 3.00/15p.m (2 and a half hours). Times are normally aligned to school start times, to allow parents to drop off or collect any siblings who may be attending school and get their 2 year olds to the Flying Start childcare provision. (NB times differ at each settings – to confirm start time, check with each allocated nursery).
