Carmarthenshire Family Information Service
This service was originally set up in 2003 as one of the 22 Children’s Information Service’s across Wales, to provide information, advice and guidance on childcare to parents and prospective parents in their County.
In 2008 the service was renamed nationally as the Family Information Service or FIS. New duties have been given to local authorities across Wales by the Welsh Assembly Government to broaden the range of information and support they provide.
The Carmarthenshire Family Information Service provides bilingual, impartial advice and guidance on a wide range of childcare and family support related issues.

Childcare Sufficiency Assessment 2011-14
Carmarthenshire County Council has recently undertaken a second Childcare Sufficiency Assessment to gauge the demand for and supply of childcare locally in accordance with the Childcare Act 2006.
From the full Assessment we have produced a summary document which outlines the key findings, childcare gaps and suggested recommendations. You can view the full Assessment and Summary here.
