Carmarthenshire Family Information Service This service was originally set up in 2003 as one of the 22 Children’s Information Service’s across Wales, to provide information, advice and guidance on childcare to parents and prospective parents in their County. In 2008 the service was renamed nationally as the Family Information Service or FIS. New duties have been given to local authorities across Wales by the Welsh Assembly Government to broaden the range of information and support they provide. Childcare Sufficiency Assessment 2011-14 Summary Document Carmarthenshire County Council has recently undertaken a second Childcare Sufficiency Assessment to gauge the demand for and supply of childcare locally in accordance with the Childcare Act 2006. From the full Assessment we have produced a summary document which outlines the key findings, childcare gaps and suggested recommendations. The Summary document is currently out for CONSULTATION. All responses will be collated and given due consideration when finalising the final version of our Assessment. This is an important Assessment and will help us to strategically plan the development of childcare provision over the next three years...make sure you have your say!
